Americans see off Colombia

United States warmed up for their upcoming World Cup qualifier with a 3-0 friendly win over Colombia.
First half goals from Pat Noonan and Chad Marshall sent Bruce Arena's side on their way to an easy victory at Titan Stadium in Fullarton, California while Clint Mathis (pictured) completed the scoring in the second half.

Arena played a squad entirely made up of players from Major League Soccer while the visiting Colombians included members of their Under-20 squad in Wednesday's friendly.

USA goalkeeper Jon Busch earned a clean sheet for the home side, as Colombia rarely threatened during the 90 minutes.

The hosts suffered one setback in the latter stages, as Taylor Twellmann was sent off with 14 minutes remaining for the Americans.

The result is sure to give encouragement for Arena, as non of his European-based players were involved in the con-*test*-('").

Having opened their final round Concacaf World Cup qualifying account with a win in Trinidad & Tobago, the Americans face the daunting task of taking on arch-rivals Mexico at the Azteca on March 27.
