Rangers boss Alex McLeish has confirmed that he is hopeful of clinching a deal to land Monaco striker Dado Prso this weekend.
As reported, the Croatia international hit-man is flying into Glasgow this weekend for talks with the SPL giants, and McLeish is confident of reaching a definitive agreement.

The 29-year-old will be available on a free transfer when his Monaco contract expires in the summer, and has attracted the interest of clubs across Europe.

It seems that Bolton, Besiktas and Rangers were the candidates best placed to land his signature, but The Gers appear close to persuading him to head to Ibrox.

"He is coming to talk to us and it is not a done deal but we hope to conclude business with him as he is a player we admire," McLeish told the club's official website.

"He has had a fantastic season and in just a few weeks he will play in the (UEFA) Champions League final.

"He has scored a lot of goals and he has performed really well.

"We have watched him on a number of occasions and it would be great to do a deal."

If Rangers can agree a move for Prso it would be a huge boost for the SPL giants who are planning a major overhaul of their playing staff this summer.

McLeish has already secured the services of Auxerre's highly-rated defender Jean-Alain Boumsong and the addition of Prso, 29 - second top-scorer in this season's UEFA Champions League - would represent another major coup.

Done and dusted. Next on the Hun hitlist is likely to be Dundee keeper Julien Speroni.
