Blackburn keeper ponders MLS move

Brad Friedel would be keen on a move back to the USA if his hometown side are awarded an MLS franchise

The 33-year-old has been Rovers' most consistent performer over the past few years and remains a major part of Mark Hughes's future plans at Ewood Park.

However Friedel has said: "My hometown Cleveland could get a Major League Soccer team.

"If that happens, I could see myself playing over there."

Good news for Cleveland...tough on Blackburn...

Great idea for both the MNT AND the MLS. Currently, as our young American players demonstrate poetntial ability, we MUST send them to Europe. The US men's team benefits from such exportation because the players ultimately more fully develop on a larger stage with and against higher quality footballers.

As the US team gets better and the older players begin to head down the "back side of the mountain", they can return to the US to enjoy a few seasons as the top dogs of the league. The MLS benefits by gaining known commodities and the game gains momentum over the long term. TalkFootball/thumbsup[1].gif

Can't wait to watch Friedel, Rena, McBride, Bocenegra, etc. playing in the MLS when their European careers are over.
