Great idea for both the MNT AND the MLS. Currently, as our young American players demonstrate poetntial ability, we MUST send them to Europe. The US men's team benefits from such exportation because the players ultimately more fully develop on a larger stage with and against higher quality footballers.
As the US team gets better and the older players begin to head down the "back side of the mountain", they can return to the US to enjoy a few seasons as the top dogs of the league. The MLS benefits by gaining known commodities and the game gains momentum over the long term.
Can't wait to watch Friedel, Rena, McBride, Bocenegra, etc. playing in the MLS when their European careers are over.
