Have only read Bestie's autobiography so can't judge to much on them, and have Gazza (yes, and Tony Adams) in my 'to read' pile as I said. I wouldn't generally go for a footballer's book unless he had led a particularly spectacular career or had a tale to tell...hence Best and Gazza. There are a few Maradona books about but would leave it a decade or so before reading anything - plenty more tales to tell from him yet!!

It doesn't bear thinking about how many chapters there would be in a final account of Maradona's life.
I have an abridged version of Maradona's autobigraphy 'El Diego' that came from with a copy of Four-Four-Two magazine back last year. It wasn't a bad read actually, it made me want to read the whole thing, at least. for all the cheating in '86 and the drugs etc, he's still one of the best players I've seen, in the supreme tradition of great talent that explodes, a la Best and Gazza.
Just remember another football novel I own which I can recommend...
It's the book of Series One of 'Jossy's Giants'!
Brilliant!

Ahhh - fantastic memories.
I used to rush home from Primary School to watch that. It was filmed in Farnworth near my dad's.
My mate was the envy of us all because he knew Gruey. My girlfriend's mate has also shagged him apparently.
having got through the first few pages of Hornby's Fever Pitch, I'm now well into the book and thoroughly enjoying it! it's a good book after all, and true too. great read!

I switch the computer off occassionally, it helps!
I usually read a little bit before going to sleep, and a little bit when I'm on the shitter. it gets the job done (so to speak...)
I finished Fever Pitch now anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed it in the end. I'd recommend it to anyone who hasn't read it, well worth reading all the endless "everyone hates Arsenal" type stuff that Hornby talks about...
