The Bond films

Braveheart (my English flatmate said after we all sat and watched it that he has never been so uncomfortable in his life sitting in a room full of Scots!)

Stand Free, do you really blame the poor lad??? Great film by the way!!!

Wow, you lot have some great films there. Jammy, I see you like the organized crime/gangster flicks eh, such a great genre!

By the way, if someone can please tell me about Mean Machine I would be eternal grateful. I know it is a remake of the American football flick but it is it any good. I know Jason Statham is in it as well as Vinnie Jones so it seems maybe like a Guy Ritchie film and it is footie TalkFootball/cheers.gif so I think I would like it. What do you guys think of it?

It is quality film to watch it with the lads. Not for women, cos they wouldn't like it.

If I were you, i would buy it cos it is a good movie and i have got it too, mate. TalkFootball/thumbsup[1].gif

Do they have one in Canada, mate? If they don't have one there, just let me know. Do you have MULTI-REGIONS DVD PLAYER, mate?

Yes they have some copies here in Canada and I will be picking up a copy no doubt.

Thank you for the info you gave me, it is much appreciated. And war movies are brilliant, the reason being it happens and is not so far fetched like these new weird hobbit movies. No disrespect to Lord of the rings but jesus I just cant get into a movie with little hobbits.

ona- 01-11-2005
The Usual Suspects, Millers Crossing, The Big Lombowski, The hudsucker proxy, Raizing Arizona, Once Apon a time in America(the best Gangster movie ever), Raging Bull are classics, Down by law.

Redyankee- 01-11-2005
Great Movies one and all.

I'm probably the biggest movie freak ever. My wife constantly picks on me for buying DVDs and beer.

My list would look a lot like Rays + LG's - the horror movies (too big a wimp).
I would have to add Animal House, Lord of the Rings trilogy, Old School, and Highlander. TalkFootball/thumbsup[1].gif

ona- 01-11-2005
what about Fast Times at Ridgmont High

Excuse me LG but it happens to be one of my fav films!!! Along with Lock Stock & 2 Smoking Barrells and Snatch - All 3 films have been well written, directed & produced and i dont htink better actors could have been picked for the characters!

Im also partial to a few american teen movies - Dude wheres my car, road trip & american pie.

Some all time favs tho - Green Mile (still makes me cry!), Bugsy Malone & the lord of the rings trilogy

greyman- 01-12-2005
war = A Bridge Too Far
Gangster = Pulp Fiction
Comedy = Life of Brian and Blues Brothers and Dr Strangelove
Sport = Remember the Titans
Drama = Kiss of the Spiderwoman
Just as a start.

Maksimov- 01-12-2005
War: Paths of Glory

Comedy: Dr. Strangelove or This is Spinal Tap

Documentary: Shoah or Night and Fog

Animation: Nightmare Before Christmas

Drama: Underground or Sunset Boulevard

Those are just few of my favourites. Just something from the top of my head...but I would say I like all those movies a lot. Some are for the pure entertainment value and some because they've managed to move me. The original Star Wars trilogy has been an all-time favourite(just don't mention the prequel trilogy) since I was a kid just as the Indiana Jones trilogy is. I just can't judge the movies properly as they've been such a part of my childhood. Out of the movies I've seen during the past six months or so, I'd have to say I really liked 'The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind' and the extended version of 'The Return of the King'...(on DVD) I just love watching movies so that shortlist above is really a short list.
