Some of you will remember that I work with schoolboy and junior Rugby League teams (I live in Australia and was born in Leeds, whatdya do?). Today the junior team I help train and run water for put on a terrible performance by their standards, winning 28-22.

They have been undefeated for the last two seasons. Today they were playing the side who we beat in last years Grand Final. Our boys learnt a lesson about what happens when you don't play with commitment and you aren't smart. Early in the second half we were down 22-0.

We only had one reserve for the game, the weather had turned on 27 celcius for us and we were at their ground. Though the only reason we were down was the 'going through the motions' attitude the boys seemed to have developed. The comeback though was fantastic. The opposition were playing mistake free footy and, to their credit, lifted to meet the challenge of facing a team as dominating as our boys have become.

What looked like it could be the upset of the season was turned into a positive as the boys found their form, began to dominate the oppsition who, despite their four reserves, began to tire and lose belief. We scored the winning try just before fulltime. The boys drank lots of water and were completely stuffed, the comeback had taken a lot out of them but they knew they were never beaten and had the ability and patience to put together 25 minutes of the sort of football that left the opposition going 'what just happened? we were leading 22-0?'

Maybe it was the wake up call we needed but it was exciting and proved what we know about these boys, they are champions.
