Ona, I said Dawson was one for the future for England due to his performances for Spurs last season. I think Lescott has qualities that would make him a better international player than Daws though, he's quicker on the turn which is useful at international level.

I didn't 'slate' Gerrard's performance either, I said he played well defensively but didn't add anything in the attacking third, which is what everyone's been saying Gerrard would do, if he had someone in there with him other than Lampard. which turned out to be complete bollox, against opposition that wasn't particularly great. I said both games were there for Gerrard to dominate and to stamp his World Class status upon, but he didn't. Do you disagree?

I have no doubt that you'll come back with 'but Gerrard wasn't fully fit'

and then we'll go round in a circle again. so I can't be arsed.

I've said my piece, you guys have said yours. we both know where the other is coming from, so we can leave it at that, can't we?

It was OK for Lumpard to play for England with a bad toe.....Oh yes and the Great and wonderful Gary Lineker!!!!

again, I never said it was ok for Lampard to play with a broken toe. your reasoning there is child like 'it was ok for Lampard to do it, so my boy Gerrard will do it too! ner ner!'

for any player to play with an injury is retarded at best in the long term, as Lampard's finding out now he's missed the last two games with an injury, great eh?

as for Lineker he would never have put himself ahead of the good of the team and the country. he could have carried on his international career and beat Bobby Charlton's record if he was selfish enough, but he called it quits while he was ahead.

actually MTTC, lineker called it 'quits' because Graham Taylor dropped him from his squad. and let's face it, that england team was awful.. even if lineker had played 10 more games, he might not have scored and beaten charlton's record !

oh yeah, absolutely. Gary Lineker was shite, he'd never have scored any more goals for England, ever again. very true, indeed. he was one of the worst strikers in England's history, not a patch on Peter Crouch.

You are taking this way to personally......I haven't said that you said any of these thing just that they have been said!!!

And as for my reasoning being childish ...I wont even go there at this time as I have more important things to do than get into a slanging match with you.
Any player who plays with an injury is retarded....WTF???
They are footballers that is there job and I'm sure that many of us have worked with injuries so why shouldn't they???

Lineker played for months with a cast on his hand for England and which ever team he was playing for at the time.....he also played for a while with a toe injury in Japan.....not putting himself before the team but trying to help the team.
I wasn't slagging Lampard or Lineker for playing injured just showing how wrong your assessment of Gerrard's attitude to playing for England is!

Oh and BTW..... TalkFootball/birthday.gif

Heskey ruled out for 6 weeks, one less headache for McClaren. Rooney will probably take his place back unless Peter Crouch plays regular football for Liverpool between now and the end of October.
