Northern Ireland and Wolves legend Derek Dougan has died aged 69.

The Doog.

A sad loss for football today. He was one of the grea-*test*-('") players ever to pull on the old gold shirt of Wolves and he will be sorely missed, I have seen him a few times at the Molineux watching Wolves and I have also seen some of his talks at football events around the Midlands.

May the Doog RIP.

Legend.

R I P
Derek
I remember watching him on World of Sport when I was a kid.
A great servant to Wolves.

I remember him playing for Villa in the early sixties! I was at junior school at the time and he quickly became one of my first heroes, along with John Sluwenhoek ( it was the exotic name I think) and Paddy McParland!

The Doog was fearless, he would head anything and would put his nut in where most wouldn't swing a boot!!

A true legend in Midlands football

RIP DOOG and many thanks.

a truely sad day

A bloke i had the pleasure of speaking/talking too on several occasions. despite coming from Northern Ireland and playing for several clubs. he really was Wolves through and Through. Whenever you spoke to him his football memories were Wolves and nothing else. He settled in and loved the area. A true gent who always found time for the fans. If it wasn't for him Wolves as a club would not exist today. Whatever the underlining reasons for saving the club in the early 80's (the bhattis) The doog wasn't interested in the ground/land. He only thought of the/his club. John Richards would not have been the player he was without the doog. a true wolves legend, and i only hope the club gives him the memorial he deserves

Rest in Peace "Doog"

A sad day for football, and a very sad day for the people of Wolverhampton.........Your people TalkFootball/Respect.gif

on a footnote, Today is 28 years to the day, when the biggest influence in my life also died, in a tragic hit and run accident. If you watching grandad (charlie). Have a word with the "doog". You/him are the reason i am what i am today. Wolves through and through. Shake him by the hand, and look after him. i know he is in safe hand now

RIP DOOG.

DJ it must have taken something out of you typing that last sentance mate, i could feel myself choking up just reading it, i get the same over my grandad (bampy) as i used to call him. i was the apple of his eye. he died nearly 5 years ago now and i miss him terribly.

dont want to bring a joke to such a serious thread but he also was the biggest influance in my life, thats probably why i'm such a pisshead his nickname was SCRUMPY after all TalkFootball/rofl1.gif

RIP doog.

Another footballing legend and true gentleman leaves us about 30 years before his time.

I have been cut off from the world over this weekend and this news has hit me like a bullet. DJ if it were possible I would have ordered their first round for them, Derek Dougan was one of my first footballing anti-heroes. Loved the guy for his football but hated the fact that he wasn't a Blue.

RIP Doog and, on behalf of a generation of fans, many many thanks for the memories.

Dougan was one of the stars at the time I was becoming aware of football. That era will be one that always fills me with excitement, Dougan was right up there with the other stars of the day and the first name most people thought of when you mentioned Wolves.

RIP DD

sad.gif I agree with Greyman, he was the face I thought of when sombody talked about Wolves, as a product of the sixties I have memories of watching the big fella on match of the day and later in his fight to save Wolves from oblivion.
An Irish gent, a hero, a great footballer, and a man who held great respect among his peers.

so long Big Doog.
