New goalkeeper Artur Boruc proved Celtic's hero as the Hoops registered a pre-season friendly draw against Leicester at the Walkers Stadium.
Parkhead boss Gordon Strachan has secured Boruc on an initial one-year loan from Legia Warsaw after ending negotiations for goalkeeper Antti Niemi once Southampton refused to lower their £2million valuation of the former Rangers shotstopper.
And on his Bhoys debut, the 25-year-old Boruc, who has six caps for Poland, demonstrated fine form as he produced a penalty save as well as a series of equally fine stops to secure the second consecutive 0-0 draw of Strachan's reign following the Bhoys' weekend outing at Fulham.
Former Celtic goalkeeper Rob Douglas was a last-minute inclusion for City after declaring himself fit following a foot injury and Polish international Maciej Zurawski made his first start for Celtic after signing from Wisla Krakow for a £2million fee.
But with just 72 seconds on the clock it was compatriot Boruc who was called into action after Mark De Vries found Dion Dublin inside the Celtic box where the City striker was pulled down by Chris Sutton.
Referee Peter Walton immediately awarded a penalty but Dublin saw his spot-kick parried low to the keeper's left.
Richard Stearman and then James Wesolowski both had chances before De Vries burst free from midfield in the 16th minute but as he reached the box, Boruc advanced and produced a courageous one-handed save.
Celtic's first attack of note came two minutes short of the half hour but Aiden McGeady could only fire into the sidenetting ahead of Mo Camara booming a free-kick high over the crossbar with 12 minutes of the first half remaining.
At the other end, Boruc produced another fine save to tip away a De Vries effort before Craig Beattie, on as Celtic's replacement for right-back Gary Irvine, crossed to the back post where a succession of John Hartson and McGeady efforts were blocked.
With five minutes to the break, Wesolowski, a 17-year-old product of the Foxes' youth policy, was the victim of a gruesome Bobo Balde challenge and was stretchered off to be replaced by Joey Gudjonsson.
Five minutes into the second half and Dublin was the next Leicester player in need of treatment after tangling with Balde.
But the second period was approaching the hour mark before the crowd of 13,087 was enlivened by a shot, though the long-range effort from Nils-Eric Johnasson fizzed wide of Boruc's goal.
Next it was Dublin's turn to head over the bar before Boruc stooped to deny Gareth Williams after the Foxes midfielder had eluded Neil Lennon, Balde, Stanislav Varga and Beattie.
With 72 minutes gone the visitors at last forced Douglas into a save but Jeremie Aliadiere, on for Hartson, saw his stinging drive parried away.
Leicester's response came through De Vries who headed marginally over the bar but Boruc was - deservedly - to have the last word as he clawed away a Williams shot one-handed after the Scotsman had again danced clear of succession of challenges.
