With no ill intent towards Arsenal or Chelsea, I really do hope that it will be a Spurs V Everton final. Both teams and their fans are in desperate need of a trophy, plus it would bring a nice change to the game to have two teams outside the so called big four (which annoys the hell out of me) con-*test*-('")ing a cup final...

Well that is the job half done! I must admit that this was the best display I have seen from Spurs for a very long time, they simply ripped Arsenal apart. Shame to see Gunner fans leaving the ground with only 60 minutes on the clock.. blink.gif

It was interesting also to see some of the Arsenal players getting amongst each other towards the end......

Now I hope Everton will finish the job...

There's a distinct lack of Arsenal fans! Wonder why?

I thought they'd have at least wheeled out the 'it was only our youngsters/reverses/internationals' but nothing, as yet... TalkFootball/Yaboo.gif

Groundhog Day matey - yesterday it was Liverpool fans, tomorrow Chelsea.

Tis the fickle way of football fans the whole world over.

Effing hell, give us a chance to reply at least before you start calling fans 'fickle'.

Well done to tiny totts, at the end of the day they were the better team over the two legs and could have had a higher aggregate had they finished the same way in the away leg. Despite the usual media/hater overkill, most Arsenal fans dont feel as if the world has reached 11.59.59 yet, indeed we certainly know as a team we can always play on a much higher level given the fact that weve beaten Spurs twice in the league, THIS SEASON with a full strength team.

But that is not to take anything away from totts as they simply wanted and deserved it more, regardless of what team AW put out.

Some fans like good old Rocky can take it while some couldnt bear seeing their team lose by a wide scoreline to their local neighbours (worse still face abuse and attacks on their way back) so them leaving early doesnt necessarily mean theyre fickle....

And its pretty rich that a manc (remember Coventry? TalkFootball/loser.gif ) should talk about 'loyalty' given the number of prawn sarnies that infest London, not manchester... rolleyes.gif

Anyway, congrats totts, every dog has its day. TalkFootball/cheers.gif

Well taken GM, fair play TalkFootball/cheers.gif

I'll take your point that you have beaten us twice in the league this season at full strength, can't argue with that. It'll be interesting to see how the games go between us next season, to see how far Ramos is capable of taking us.

Arsenal remain a better team than Spurs, but can The Special Juan close the gap between us and, well all of the top 4, really. That's the key, not just this one-off game.

What I'm most astounded with is that Ramos appears to have turned Jenas into a bit of a decent player, from what I saw (the highlights on ITV, not very much) he appeared to control the midfield and was on top of things. That's a first, ever. I had as good as given up hope on Jenas ever becoming a good central midfielder, but it's now looking possible. He needs to do this more often, put his stamp and authority on games.

Also, it's well worth noting that now Ledley King's back we aren't half as sh*t at the back as we have been. We still need to work on defending set pieces, but things appear to be getting a little tighter back there. No coincidence that King is a major contributor in a decent Spurs defence, and but for a superb Adebayor goal, and Bendtner hitting the bar the defence held firm.

Surely a certain level of abuse is to be expected between bitter rivals? But fans attacking each other is not on, though.

GUNNERMAN- 01-23-2008
I saw both games and TBH if we did get through we would have fluked it, rather than earn the right which Spurs did.

Did you know that for 7 attempts 5 ended up as goals, that was to discount chances that Berbatov and Defoe missed, so the scoreline could have ended up much worse for us......

Theo Walcotts' form is worrying, as is Gilbertos, it just shows how much The Flamster has improved his overall game and I hope he signs a new contract soon. JJ is beginning to play as a box to box player and credit to Ramos for instilling attacking confidence in him. King was pretty awesome at the back, if he stays injury free Spurs have a chance of climbing the table...

However the real -*test*-('") will be against manu at the weekend and if Spurs get through that(ditto ours v Newcastle) I hope an FA Cup tie will redefine the top team in North London.

Once again well done. TalkFootball/cheers.gif

MartyrToTheCause- 01-23-2008
I don't think last night's win for us has redefined who the best team in North London is. We're still a long way behind, despite this result, but I can see that your lot might fancy a bit of revenge! We need to win a few trophies before we have any proper bragging rights, if that ever happens!

I agree that United on Sunday will be a real -*test*-('") of how far Ramos has taken us so far. I have a sneaky suspicion we'll end up on our arse and out of the competition. A 2-1 defeat I predict.

What was the deal with Bentner and Gallas going at each other towards the end of the game? What was that about?

Theo Walcott was pretty anonymous last night, from what I could tell. It's hard to say on just 30 minutes of highlights. This season maybe Arsenal have missed the influence of Baptista for the Carling Cup, he was our undoing this time last year. Well, him and the fact that we caved in on ourselves.

7 chances and 5 turned into goals? That's pretty impressive. The Berbatov miss was the one he hit the post, I guess? He should have done better. Ditto for Defoe, his miss was abysmal, truly shocking.

I suspect we'll climb the table and finish about 8th. Getting to the Carling Cup final will hopefully ensure UEFA Cup football for a third season running, it's the best we can hope for now after the crap start we had.
