keep getting this error when trying to connect to some web sites Cannot find server or DNS Error
Internet Explorer

WTF

okanaganboy- 05-15-2007
Could be a cookies thing.. have you tried them with Firefox? TalkFootball/cheers.gif

duncandares- 05-15-2007
My wife had the same problem on her PC, seems it was a variant of a trojan. Run your anti-virus and see what you pick up. Also see if the browser has been hijacked.

dinglejohn- 05-15-2007
my anti virus (norton 2007) is showing sweet fa, dunc. Will try firefox 2morro, cheers okan

How do i find out if my browser has been hijacked?????????????

duncandares- 05-15-2007
When you open IE do you have a start page?

Is it the one that normally opens when you start IE ?

duncandares- 05-15-2007
DJ. Is it every webpage or just some?

If some try this download...... http://www.fixieonline.com/pagefix/pagefix.zip

try going to this website: www.IE-is-shite.co.uk - if nothing comes up try going to the mozilla website and downloading Firefox! it's much better... TalkFootball/cheers.gif

i said something similar to scouser the other night...theres far better than IE out there, i always use firefox has you know, i think i remember dunc saying b4 that he finds opera (sp) good...maybe wrong tho.

duncandares- 05-17-2007
No your not, I still use Opera! None of the problems associated with IE.

MartyrToTheCause- 05-17-2007
yeah, Opera's apparently good too - the problems associated with IE stem from their security settings and their allowance of scripts and Active X controls, which can be used as a 'back door' to your hard drive allowing all sorts of trojans access to whatever they want to use! I'd go as far as saying that IE is the equivalent of a lady with no panties on... not good! (well...... TalkFootball/giggle[1].gif TalkFootball/rofl1.gif)

scouser180- 05-17-2007
So I've got a question....(I asked Scott on Messenger last night but just like me he had no idea)
How do I stop Hotmail opening in IE when I go through messenger??
TalkFootball/cheers.gif

MartyrToTheCause- 05-17-2007
because both msn messenger and hotmail are microsoft owned, messenger's hardwired to open in IE, nothing you can do about that, apart from the obvious of opening a firefox window and going to www.hotmail.com... that's all you can do, I'm afraid.

Cheers MTTC.
I did think there would be nothing I could do.....Uncle Bill Gates laying down the law again to us ordinary folk.TalkFootball/giggle[1].gif

Suppose I'll just have to leave IE on the PC then. TalkFootball/cheers.gif

well, I think Bill has little to do with things these days but Microsoft certainly do like to leave their stamp on things so you can't get around things.

I still have IE on my computer too, some things don't work on Firefox, although it is getting better.
