Focused Benitez wants calm approach from Liverpool

By Jeremy Butler

LIVERPOOL, England, Nov 27 (Reuters) - Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has warned his side not to be over-adventurous against Porto on Wednesday despite being in a precarious qualifying position in the Champions League.

Liverpool are third in Group A with four points, three behind Marseille and a further point behind leaders Porto. In the night's other match the French side play Besiktas.

"We must not lose," he told reporters on Tuesday. "People are not considering this but if we draw and beat Marseille in our final game, and Marseille lose to Besiktas we can also qualify.

Rafa, people are not considering it because Marseille is not going to lose to Besiktas. It would seem that Besiktas have already earned their "shock" result in this group. rolleyes.gif

3 points or bust.

BRING IT ALL OR STAY HOME!

Liverpool HAVE to win.

There is no way Benitez should be relying on other teams slipping up.

Remember, that's what England did and they still fooked it up.

Fcuk that rafa send a team out there to give their all and win this game big style..even if it means playing 11 up front at times fooking go for it...whats there to lose?? rolleyes.gif

If Liverpool lose I suspect the board will use that as an excuse to remove Rafa from his position. It's what boards of directors do best...

Also, what's the deal with the word 'focused' popping up in every Rafa-related thing. Is he having some eye-problems? Cataracts, maybe?!

LFC looked good in the first 30 minutes slick passing and forward movement. But Porto took control after their goal. Once Rafa brought on Crouch the game changed Liverpools way. Crouch demands so much attention defences forget about Torres. Gerrard was able to get forward more and the ball generally stayed in the final 3rd. Also nice to see Crouch score from the bench I think it may be his first time in his career. Brilliant goals from Torres, what a winner. He makes the difference in games where everything is on the line. I thought Benayoun was not good. But everyone else did their job. Good to see Mascherano back in the side even though Leiva did play well on the weekend. Think kewell is looking the part should get good minutes this weekend. Hope Rafa can pair Crouch and Torres this weekend. it is so much for the defences to handle. Finnan was good tonight and Jamie was his brilliant self. Reina almost got another assist what vision from the spannish keeper.

All in all Well done Reds about 50 minutes of good football with 4 goals. Massive for us to keep the goals flowing, we have to score goals to continue this run. Remember in Rafa's first season LFC went on a run after beating Fulham, would be fitting for us to win 11 on the trot.

Brilliantly taken second goal and a great header for the first . El nino is truly spain's and anfield's golden boy

still got to do the job in marseille, but on this evidence, we'll be able to go and get the victory we require.
