Everton have announced that their former captain Brian Labone has died at the age of 66.

Labone was reportedly found dead after collapsing outside his Merseyside home at around 11.30pm on Monday night.

The central defender is widely recognised as one of the Toffees' grea-*test*-('") ever players, having made 534 appearances for the club he joined as a 15-year-old.

He was part of the Everton teams which won the League title in 1963 and 1970, as well as captaining the club to FA Cup success in 1966.

Labone also won 26 caps for England and played at the 1970 World Cup finals in Mexico.

An Achilles problem forced him to retire in 1971, but he continued working for Everton in a commercial capacity until his untimely death

Another gone before his time............RIP and thanks for the memories.
