Brendan Keilar was a Melbourne property lawyer who was shot dead in Melbourne today by a outlaw bikie gang member. Mr Keilar leaves behind a wife, Alice and three daughters under the age of 10.

"Yesterday, Mr Keilar died doing exactly that. He was shot when he intervened to stop a man assaulting a woman in the city, after he had seen the man drag the woman from a taxi by her hair."

Shot in the upper body from close range, Mr Keilar died at the scene.

The animal who killed him is well-known to police and a vicious piece of work. Security footage shown to Melbourne newspapers shows the culprit kicking a woman in the face outside a nightclub before later dragging another woman out of a taxi and throwing her on the road. Mr Keilar went to her aid and was shot at point blank range.

RIP Brendan and sincerest sympathies to his girls. One cannot imagine what they are going through. A family torn apart. As it so often is: horrendously unfair.

Scumbags that abuse women deserve all the prevailing law can throw at them.

If there is some consolation for his wife and children it is that their father died doing what he thought right. The fact that almost every living soul on this planet agrees with him just proves what a right-minded man he was.
