Well, our biggest night in European football is almost upon us.

How unfortunate that it coincides with what is a MASSIVE game for us at the weekend.

A team consisting of Toni, Klose, Sagnol, etc is a pretty intimidating proposition especially considering that Megson, understandably, will be giving priority to Sunday's game against Boro.

Unfortuntaley as I'm playing football from 5pm til 6pm I'll have to watch it in the bar with all my United and City supporting mates as it'll take about half an hour to get home. sad.gif

I've got a feeling it could be a long 90 minutes.

I just hope the lads who do play put in the kind of effort and commitment they showed last weekend.

Wish us luck .............. we'll need it. TalkFootball/cheers.gif

Bayern haven't set the world alight in Europe yet, so this might be the time for Bolton to go there and get something.

Although they have yet to lose in the Bundesliga yet this season which is a little ominous maybe! Played 12 and have won 8 of 'em.

I still say Bayern for the Uefa Cup. it's on the cards, they are the best team in it.

Our only hope is that someone like Daniel Braaten will be given the chance to shine.

He arrived in the summer with a reputation as the most flamboyant player in Norway - just check out footage of him on Youtube and you'll see what I mean.

He's made mugs out of the entire Real Madrid team when he's played for Rosenberg so he's a player who looks like he enjoys the big occasions.

So far this season he's only had a few odd minutes here and there but has impressed during these fleeting appearances.

My fear, however, is he's not the type of player that Megson likes.

I think we're far more likely to go with Kevin Davies stuck up on his own up front with limited support from Stelios.

I'm sure Megson will be looking at attempting to choke the life ouf of the game with a hugely defensive approach and hope we can snatch something from a set-piece.

It seems a bit weird to have the biggest team in Germany playing in the UEFA cup.

that said, Bolton will have a massive scalp on their hands if they can pull off a win.

Good luck megson's trotters !

Didn't see the match but I have to think that Bolton is happy with the result and especially a late fight back goal.

Overall, a good week for the Brits (aside from Rangers at the Nou Camp)

What a fantastic effort from the boys last night.

Looking at the quality of the players they had in their side compared to the quality in ours it looked like a complete mis-match.

What we had in our favour though, once again, was a great team ethic and a never-say-die spirit.

Apart from one dropped cross, Ali Al Habsi was superb for us in goal. His handling was spot on and he made an absolutely world class save from the impressive Ribery - somehow diving low to his left and turning it over the bar.

I must admit, once Bayern took the lead it looked like curtains for us and that they would run riot.

I'd therefore like to take this opportunity to thank Hitzfeld for taking off the three best players on the park, Podolski, Schweinsteiger and especially Ribery. TalkFootball/clap.gif

Once these players had left the pitch their cutting edge disappeared and there was always a chance for us to grab something.

........ and we did !!! TalkFootball/whacky088.gif

A great piece of skill by Nolan set up Davies who crashed it underneath Kahn. TalkFootball/whacky088.gif

Whilst not getting carried away on the back of two draws, I have little doubt theat a few weeks ago we'd have lost these last two games.

Now for the big game on Sunday. The lads will be bursting with confidence and hopefully our re-born skipper can carry on his new found form (and fitness) from the last two games.

Fair play to Bolton, that's a superb result! I think over the next year, once players like Klose, Ribery and Toni settle in, Bayern Munich could well be one of the best teams in Europe.

They are still my tip to win the Champions League 2008/09. If all goes well for them they'll be in with a shout.

I was half watching the game and was stunned when Bolton went ahead, and fair play they deserved at least a point.

Megson for England?!

Mr Parr- 11-09-2007
Well, he wouldn't be a popular choice and he's a ginge.

Isn't that the criteria the FA usually go for ? rolleyes.gif
