Just as well when it started going slow I had the presence of mind to save what I typed

I know I haven't been posting much and will post more of the fantastic Arsenal Ladies' performances.

There were almost 1000 people at the match today and the standard was very good.

Arsenal Ladies had a dodgy start to the match and it took them a while to get settled. Frankfurt are a very experienced side in Europe and have won the competition before. Arsenal went a goal down to a Sandra Smisek’s effort after 23 minutes. Lianne Sanderson scored seconds before half time and both sides could have scored in the second half. A draw was a fair result as both sides hit the woodwork.

Rachel Yankey was WOM and had a hand int he Arsenal goal. In injury time she picked up the ball just inside the area made a great run to reach the byline then cutting the ball back for Sanderson to score from close range.

Grant should have scored in the closing minutes, then Sanderson saw her stabbed effort just pass the post.

It was a great match - but as usual the subject of sponsoring came up. Their male counterparts were sponsoring each player last season, but it doesn't look as if that's going to happen this season. It will be a shame because I am sure with a bit more funding, this Arsenal team will be able to win European honours.

Although it's Arsenal, it's always good to hear promising reports of women's football here - that's a good and deserved attendance figure. It's just such a shame that the bloody funding issue has to be mentioned in every second breath with women's football.

How can Arsenal not fund their women's team... they have such a team to be proud of that it is an incredible waste if they don't, and no side like Arsenal can have any excuses... If these attendance figures are to be maintained and improved upon so that the game can become self-sufficient, it needs to continue improving in standard as it has bene doing. The quickest way that this is going to come about is with decent funding.

It's a shame, but without funding, the enthusiasm built up by the European Championships is likely to be lost through impatience for the game's standard to continue improving. That will be sad because it's an obvious starting block to build a great women's football scene in this part of the world upon.

They do get funding from Arsenal, but it doesn't seem like the extra sponsorship from the players is there - I'm not sure, but a few of us were saying that it hasn't been advertised this year. Maybe it's been kept quiet, I don't know.

I think that the £3 it cost to get in was well worth it and if crowds like that are maintained it can only do good. I was talking to a woman who has been for the last 20 years and a friend of mine used to play for Arsenal at that time. Things were a lot different then, so while the men's game is outpricing the ordinary people, women's football is offering an alternative
