I hope he lives up to the hype, Tim Henman is a joke imo. TalkFootball/cheers.gif

Im tempted to put a wager on Murray going further at Wimbledon than Tim Henman. I wonder what the odds on that are........

Evolution- 06-09-2005
I wouldn't sf

Murray has plenty of potential but lacks one key component which was evident from the game against Johansson today and thats fitness.

He's got a wildcard entry for Wimbledon so he could get someone like Hewitt, Roddick or Roger Federer and they would rip him to pieces cause of the lack of fitness.

If he goes away and works on that then next season he can rise up the ranks and still only 17.

Definately going to take on the Henman role.

Looks like Henman hill will be renamed to Murray Mound. TalkFootball/giggle[1].gif

I hate it when the Scots are better than us at sports we invented!

This kid is great, and this match is so exciting. Its 2 sets all (after Murray was 2 up!) and he's 2 down in the final set. he knackered, and he's got an injury.....

I think he hurt himself in the 3rd set, and he looks absolutely exhausted now anyway.

He's done very well to get as far as he has done so fair play to the lad. It's no disgrace losing in 5 sets to a player of the calibre of Nalbandian.

Nice to see a SCOT doing Britain proud in tennis, no more "Tiger Tim" crap!

Henman Hill should be renamed Murray Field!

VickyTheGooner- 06-25-2005
I always thought Henman was a bit of a tosser actually!

Murray has just lost the final set, 6-1, so is out, but the score line really does not reflect how well he did. He hasn't lost because of the quality of his tennis, but because he got knackered. He's only a kid though, and with a bit more off court training (some weight work I think) he will storm it next year.

I've always been a big fan of the Scots myself, and have some Scottish ancestry (and several Scottish boyfriends), so I don't have a problem with a British hero being from north of the border at all!

And it's already been called 'Murray Mound'!

I think Murray Field is better, ahahaha.

You might get a Scottish husband if you are lucky, although you would have to burn any Arsenal merchandise you have! rolleyes.gif TalkFootball/giggle[1].gif

Good to see the lad doing well, I just hope the press don't heap too much pressure on him. He's good so just give him time to fulfil his potential. Undoubtedly the best thing to come out of UK tennis for a long time.

VickyTheGooner- 06-25-2005
Oh, right 'Murray Field'....I see what you did there!

Bit slow today, sorry!

The Arsenal stuff isn't a problem - it's having Celtic as my favourite team up there which causes strife. My last bf supported Newcastle and Greenock Morton...

Morton?! TalkFootball/giggle[1].gif

VickyTheGooner- 06-25-2005
Yep! Tragic, isn't it?

The bloke I am staying with in Edinburgh is a Motherwell fan, and I must say I've a bit of a soft spot for them too. Supporting Celtic gets pretty dull ('oh, we've won again, oh, Rangers have just pipped us/we have just pipped them') so I've adopted Motherwell as my second Scottish team.

That's pretty desperate really too.

Hmm.....this thread has gone to being about football, which I guess makes it off topic. Oh well.

Who shall we root for at Wimbledon now? My instinct is to go for Andy Roddick, 'cos he's fit.
