I would just like to commend the England team.....
Not for the result or the performance.
Just for not getting wound up by the bunch of Cnuts that are Andorra....Every touch and turn they did everything they could to either slow the game down to a crawl or get a free kick and attempt to get an England player into trouble with the ref.

The first half started very lively but as it wore on the Andorrans(I'm sure they should have been blue with tentacles...Star trek joke)spoiloed the match as much as possible.

After the break Fabio made 2 changes and one was spot on....Joe Cole made his point that he should start games and not be back up for Downing.

In conclusion I think it was an acceptable result but a slightly disapointing performance.
But it's 3 points towards World Cup Qualification. TalkFootball/cheerleader.gif

Commending beating the mighty Andorra by 2 goals to nil?

Standards slipping, maybe?

I can't comment on the game as I didn't see it. I would say though that you have to expect that countries the size of Andorra are not gonna come out and try to attack England, they are gonna do what they can to not get slaughtered, which is what should be the case regardless of what they do.

I'd perhaps be disappointed if I'd saw the game. Same goes for Wales-Azerbaijan, only a late winner did the business there against a team they should put 3 past at least, although Azerbaijan have improved massively since they started playing international football back in 1992.

Standards not slipping....just realism in my opinion.
Andorra played the majority of the game in their own half with what seemed like 25 players behind the ball.

With Downing on one wing and Walcott on the other everything was down the right....and with Rooney and Defoe up front all high(ish) balls crossed into the box were just cleared to England to start again.
Downing was replaced by Joe Cole at half time and tbh was luck it wasn't earlier(He was dire)
Then when Heskey came on to be an aerial threat I can't remember a high ball going into the box.
Fabio is reported to have had a go at Rooney and Joe Cole about not getting up to help Heskey out and I for one can see his point.

Hopefully the game against Croatia will be better.

People have been saying "hopefully the next game will be better..." since 2000, if not before!

The players selected have proven time and again that they don't perform as a team.

Personally I'm just waiting for the next generation to come along, that's the only hope now. The likes of Walcott have to step up to the plate and dislodge the under-achievers for good.

It's kind of funny that after the poor showing against Andorra, that actually was deemed worthy of a post on here, but a 4-1 win over a really good Croatian team who beat England twice in the last 12/18 months already, hasn't been seen to be worthy of a post on here.

Come on lads. 4-1 against Croatia is a superb performance and one to be proud of!

Theo Walcott finally comes of age at a high level? At last! Goodbye Beckham? etc.

Thoughts, anyone?

Surprisingly much improved. Perhaps the previous defeat to the Croats did mean something to our overhyped 'stars', after all?

A better performance all round. Let us see if it continues before we get carried away though........

Agreed. I think it's time for the new guard to step up. The team needs to be built around, pace and technique. That counts out the likes of Lampard, Beckham, etc. The talent is there to build on in the next 2-4 years.
