Aberdeen have signed former Waterford utd's Gary Dempsey from Dunfirmline. Funny transfer, on a 'amuter contract', he wanted to leave Dunfirmline but wasn't released or something, so he can't start playing until next season until Dunfirmline officaily cancel his contract.

This is a seriously slick player... at Eircom league level anyroad. played for Ireland at under twenty-one level, scored many great goals for Waterford Utd and was described to me by a dumfirmline fan as 'adding a breath of attacking fresh air to our midfeild.'

Great control, beats people, great free kicks, corners... Ive seen him play so slickly in Waterford's midfeild that I can't praise him highly enough. Good luck to him at aberdeen, he was promising at Dunfirmline (scored with practically his first touch first the club after coming on in his first game, against Celtic) and if he is half the player he was two seasons ago then he should come good.

Ipswich also signing a Waterford utd player, this time directly, Daryl Murphy set to join them in the summer. Will be very dissapointing for Waterford to lose such an influencial player half way through the season, but obviously a young international player of his talent wouldn't turn down a move to a 'bigger' league. oh, he's awful. That's why I called him an influencial player and an international. He's in his fifties, that's why I called him young.

Sorry. He's deadly. A striker, tall but not of the big and clumsy type. Pacy and can beat people, and with a strong header too. Has scored marvellous goals for Waterford Utd. I would have thought he might have been even more suited to being a winger, being quick and dribbly, but his roles been as striker and it's been successful, with Waterford Utd fourth in the Eircom league with five games gone.

He's played for Ireland under twenty-ones, and been selected for an 'Irish league' squad for some competition, in which the best players from the Eircom league are picked, so obviously he's young and very talented... there is a leap up between levels but you don't get picked for those teams if you're not seriously good.
