Great penalty stopper, yes. Great all round goalkeeper, no. 'Decent' all round goalkeeper, yes.

I'd agree that Liverpool are a better team than two years ago, whilst Milan appear to be pretty much the same, besides the fact there's no Crespo - who did a lot of the damage in the first half 2 years ago...

the one thing in Milan's favour is the fact that Kaka has grown as a man and as a player... the good thing for Liverpool is the likes of Cafu, Nesta and Maldini have grown arthritic!

Mascherano could easily mark Kaka out of the game, playing as he is at the moment.

Liverpool have more chance of beating AC Milan than they would have of beating United, in my opinion...

TalkFootball/cheers.gif

no sheva, no stam, no crespo..

if milan beats liverpool, it 'll be because they played bettter on the night..

whoever wins, WILL DESERVE IT.

we've done it the hard way with victories over Barcelona and Chelsea on route to the final and so have Milan with their victories over Bayern and man utd..

a small issue is that the REDS will play in RED. milan were the home team and could have chosen their famous 'rossoneri' colours but instead chose to play in all-white. it seems that they're determined to erase that 2005 memory and insist that colours etc will not be the issue..

Good. The photo on the front page of the Echo special "Champions of Europe" edition will look better in a frame if they are wearing Red at winners' podium. The yellow kit would clash with the framed photo from 2005. ph34r.gif

Pepe does not make many silly mistakes but what seperates him from most keepers is he does not let it dip his form and never loses his confidence. The defence also is 100% confident in him. He is more than a PK stopper, he also the quickest off the line in the EPL the only time I can remember him getting caught out was when he came out to the left corner of the box cleared the ball out and it bounced off the defender and right to the feet of the attacker. Also he plays the counter as good as anyone in the game. He has the vission of a midfielder. I have never seen a keeper as confident as him. Class TalkFootball/cheers.gif

Ona mate,
I'm with you on rating Reina above most EPL keepers (including Dudek) but he does suffer from the occasional howler. Did you watch the debacle at Goodison? TalkFootball/eek.thumb[1].gif
Thankfully, it was an anomoly. I fully expect him to play well in Athens. TalkFootball/praying.gif

I was just about to post the same thing....Pepe make very few mistakes.
A lot of this is down to the confidence shared by him in the defence infront of him and by the defenders in our back line knowing they have Pepe behind them. TalkFootball/cheers.gif

... and the one against Bolton at the Reebok last season when he dived away from where Speed's free-kick was going, and his nightmare (up until the PK shoot-out) in the FA Cup final. rolleyes.gif

You guys' selective memory is hilarious.

I of course jest. Reina is the best 'keeper around. TalkFootball/cheers.gif

............ and Finnan is the best RB, Carragher the best CB, Arbeola/Finnan the best LB, Alonso the best passer, Gerrard the best everything, Crouch the most potent goalscorer, Kuyt the hardest worker. TalkFootball/odo_blah.gif

have you not learned yet? Liverpool are the Grea-*test*-('") Club Side in the World EVER! (Registered Trademark) and anyone who has the great pleasure of wearing the Famous Red (another Registered Trademark) of Liverpool is a footballing genius! just look at Djimi Traore, a Red defender that makes the likes of Bobby Moore, Danny Blind, Franco Baresi, Paolo Maldini look like Ramon Vega. Quality that others could only dream of!

Steven Gerrard for Prime Minister, President of the USA and Leader of the United Nations and UNICEF in his spare time! there's nothing that man can't do...

quite right, we should set aside a day for him!

I now announce, tomorrow, 9th May will officially be STEVEN GERRARD DAY! where we will all worship the footballing god... nobody before him have been as good, and no one trailing in his wake in the future can live up to the good name of Gerrard, so they might as well give up!
