Well yesterday was an interesting fishing trip:
I took my phone and thought I'd use the notes function to keep a log of times and fish Etc:
This is it:

After setting us all up(my wife Jackie,My daughter Jenna and myself),I got my rods cast out at 9:05 Right hand rod tight to an island left hand about 10 feet out in slightly deeper water.

9:25 1st run on my right hand rod and I landed a small Mirror of about 2lb we didn't bother weighing or photographing it

10:10 Another Mirror of about 2lb's this time on the left hand rod no weighing or photo(nice fish but couldn't be bothered to take a pic as I hoped for better)

10:40 Right hand rod went and this resulted in user posted image8lb 3oz.

11:06 Jenna caught user posted image
at 7lb 6oz(she named this one Mancky Back End as it was deformed at just before the tail,I caught this fish a couple of weeks ago(It in the Tackle Room somewhere))

13:15 No action for over 2 hours and it starts to rain....nice.

14:35 Rain stopped so I changed baits and put half a Pineapple boillie and and half a Bloodworm boillie on the right hand rod.Within 5 minutes I had a run but the fish spat the hook about 8feet from the bank.

16:06 Jenna has user posted image
3lb 8oz on the half and half set-up I was using.

16:40 Right hand rod screams off and we thought it was gonna be massive user posted image
Only 5lb 2oz but fought like a fish 3 times its size.

17:03 Another run on the Island rod results in a spat hook never got to see the fish.

17:47 Left hand rod now in open water goes and resulted in a lively little number user posted image

9lb 4oz biggest fish of the day and well worth the wait for her. TalkFootball/woohoo.gif

19:15 Weather looks to be setting up for a storm so I asked the women if they wanted to pack up before it hit. They both said yes.

19:21 THUNDER LIGHTNING HAIL AND RAIN WE ALL GOT F**KINF SOAKED.
Then the real fun started trying to get back home(A journey of about 20 miles) took over an hour and a half!We had to turn around 3 times due to either floods to deep to drive through or cars stuck or involved in accidents.
Finally decided to jump onto the M69 and got straight back into Leicester.

Well that all folks a bit long but we might as well use The Tackle Room for what it's supposed to be for.

i'm off in morning and hope to get a couple of sessions in so will take pics, but i think i'll be going alone so pics will be in the net..

ps.. theres rumblings around here that theres a pond opening (i know where it is) and the minimum weight will be 20lbs TalkFootball/eek.thumb[1].gif

Some tidy looking fish there mate. TalkFootball/cheers.gif

scouser180- 08-18-2006
The picture of "The Mutant Carp" doesn't do it justice it was a really nice copper colour(it may have been a Koi hybrid as I've had a Koi in my pond that was the same colour and scale markings).
The missus didn't want me to put the photo of her and her fish up but I didn't tell her until it was done. Not her PB (12lb 2oz)but still a nice one.

I take it that pond will be local to you?
I normally only travel between 20 -30 miles to go fishing or you waste more time driving and not enough wetting your line.

Cheers Glyn
They're not massive but considering the weather was all over the place we're quite happy with what we had.
I asked the bailiff how big the carp run to in the big lake at Makins and all he said was"BIG"??
Now what one person considers BIG might not be anywhere as BIG as what another thinks is BIG!(I've actually read somewhere that the biggest Carp caught there was just short of 30lbs but we've all heard fishermans tales so??)Personally I still think a 20 pounder is Big but a 30 is BIG

the pond is about 20 miles from me and me old man fished it the week before last.. the place aint open yet but cos my old man was nosey the fella let him and his mate fish if.

he recons that he caught one at least 20lb and his mate had one on that went 20 yards to the left, 20 to the right then straight at him he dipped his net the fish took one look at him and said f**k that im going nowere near that ugly twat and legged it

he recons it was enormous. would not have gone in the net.

sav when we going son?

scouser180- 08-18-2006
So whats the nearest place that I can check on the net to see how far from me it is?

I might be going to a different place on Tuesday(If it gonna rain like it did yesterday then I'll have to consider staying at home)my daughters boyfriend has asked me to take him to a place that his uncle fishes regularly and him (the uncle)and some of his work-mates(all B&Q employees)are going.

I wouldnt mind pitting my cheap ass kit against his uncle who spent thousands on his kit. He's also been fishing a lot longer than me.

BTW his uncle is a TalkFootball/merchantbanker.gif !

my old mans caravan is in a place called langorse, near brecon i dont think the pond has even been named yet, the owner told my dad that he let some local kids have a match there and he's waiting for rain to fill the pond and then he's gonna dig a channal and turn 2 ponds into one or something like that.

the bloke is building a house and in no rush by the looks.

ps. its always nice when £200 worth of gear beats £2000 worth of gear go for it TalkFootball/darkbeer.gif
